The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, with support from the British Council, have opened applications for this year’s Emerging Producers Development Programme.

This is a unique creative and professional development programme, specifically designed for early career UK-based producers. The programme offers emerging producers the chance to widen their professional networks and develop their contacts and knowledge by engaging with the world’s largest arts market at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe; offering an exceptional opportunity to enrich their ongoing career development.

The programme was established in 2012, in acknowledgement of the huge professional development opportunity that the Fringe can offer, and has seen over 40 freelance producers benefit from the scheme since its inception. Past participants have praised the programme as ‘a great opportunity to make new connections’ and ‘a wonderful, supportive, networking week. I saw some amazing work and gained some really valuable information.’ This year the programme turns six years old, coinciding with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s 70th anniversary as the world’s largest arts festival and greatest forum for freedom of expression.

The programme runs over the final week of the Fringe (21st – 27th August) and helps emerging producers explore a wider range of work being presented at the Fringe, attend professional development events aligned with their interests and seek advice from experienced performing arts professionals.

The programme is open to UK-based independent producers working across all disciplines and genres of the performing arts. The Fringe Society and the British Council are committed to accessibility and ensuring that the Emerging Producers Development Programme attracts as diverse a range of participants as possible. We welcome applications from those with additional access requirements. The deadline for applications is 17:00 on 15 May 2017.
