The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has launched the hunt for a champion artist to play a key role in the 2018 Schools Poster Competition.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s greatest platform for creative freedom and the Fringe Schools Poster Competition is a key way for the festival to engage with young people across Scotland throughout the year. The competition promotes and celebrates the creativity inherent in the Fringe, and supports teachers to deliver experiences and outcomes across many subjects in line with Curriculum for Excellence.

The Society is seeking an artist from any discipline to inspire teachers and young people from across Scotland to get involved and design a poster for the Fringe.

The role of the Champion Artist is to act as a figurehead for this long running schools competition. The Champion Artist will also be asked to run a half-hour workshop to teachers at the competition launch event at the beginning of October, be part of our judging panel, and attend the exhibition opening event in June 2018 as a guest of honour.

The competition is a key way for the Society to join the 2018 Year of Young People, by providing a platform for sharing and celebrating the creativity of young people across Scotland.
