The winner of the first Primary Times Children’s Choice award has been announced as Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs by Les Petits Theatre Company, Greenwich Theatre and Underbelly Productions (Underbelly); a story based on the award-winning book by Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto about Flinn, a brave little boy obsessed with dinosaurs and a longing for adventure.
Over 70 shows were judged by parent and child reviewing teams. The winning show scored the highest based on content, scenery, costumes, audience engagement and participation, educational value and overall family entertainment.
“The four actors leap around the stage with gusto and command the attention of the young theatregoers with their luminous storytelling skills. Jake (age 7) loved the part where the deaf diplodocus misheard what the other dinosaurs were saying and Anna (age 5) liked the songs and when the characters came down from the stage into the audience. Professional and highly entertaining, this is one show not to be missed” applauded the Primary Times reviewer.
