For the first time in So You Think You’re Funny? history, first place was tied. Demi Lardner and Edd Hedges baffled judges with their hilarious antics and a joint first place was announced. Backed by Foster’s, So You Think You’re Funny? saw Demi and Edd against seven other up and coming comedians from around Britain and Ireland. The runner up was Laura Mclenaghan.
Judged by some of the country’s most experienced judges, including Gilded Balloon’s Artistic Director, Karen Koren and celebrity judge Sarah Millican, each act had eight minutes to prove just how funny they were.
This year’s winners have not only won the coveted title but have also won a cash prize and a trip to perform at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival.
This year the search for the best comedy newcomer took competition organisers from the Gilded Balloon to Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds, Leicester, London and Manchester. A selected shortlist all pulled out their very best stand-up skills in a bid to impress.
