The 2017 Schools Poster Competition champion Artist Jon Bishop (aka The Grey Earl) has created a special message of encouragement to inspire school pupils and teachers across Scotland.

Pupils have just six weeks to submit their entries for this year’s landmark competition in which three lucky winners will see their designs inspire three versions of the historic 70th anniversary Fringe Programme cover.

Speaking about the competition Jon said: “Looking back over the many years that it’s run I’ve been amazed to see the incredible ideas and creative results that have been achieved by pupils from schools all over the country.

“Such creativity is indeed something to be celebrated both in school and throughout life and I can’t wait to see the imaginative ideas our young people have in store for the Fringe Programme cover.”

As part of the message Jon also included a special one-off illustration in his own signature style.
