FringeReview's first Outstanding Theatre Award for Edinburgh Fringe 2012 goes to Mayday Mayday.

"On the 1st of May 2004, Kneehigh's Tristan Sturrock fell, head first, off a wall. Paralysed in hospital and about to become a father, he was told he may never walk again. He tells his unique story."

FringeReview editor, Paul Levy, surprised Tristan at the curtain call for his performance today. The show received a standing ovation.

"It was not the content that won this award," said Paul Levy, "It was the direction, the writing and the solo performance which was second to none."

FringeReview gives up to three awards each August at the Edinburgh Fringe and requires at least three confirming reviews of a production before an award can be given.
