Contemporary Edinburgh artist Davy Macdonald presents Dyed in the Wool, a unique new exhibition celebrating the 150th anniversaries of Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian football clubs. This imaginative collection fuses fine art, abstract, and conceptual works, reflecting the rich history, identity and traditions of both clubs. From bold, colourful paintings to thought-provoking and playful pieces, Macdonald’s art honours the cultural legacy of these iconic teams, their deep connection to the city and the unwavering passion of their devoted fans.


Dyed in the Wool

Existence represents a fundamental state of being and an awareness of our surroundings. In this exhibition, artists utilise art as a medium to reflect this existence, capturing the essence of people, places, objects and moments throughout time. Their work provides insight into the complexities of life and the world around us.

Existence

Born in Edinburgh, Mackay studied painting at the Glasgow School of Art and lives and works in Traquair in the Tweed Valley. As a practitioner she has pioneered and established a style of felted painting for which she has become internationally renowned. Using merino fleece fibres and stitch in a painterly way, her creative process explores combining traditional craft methodology with a fine art aesthetic, creating a very personal and innovative approach to visual expression. Moy will be demonstrating this magical art form during the exhibition as she makes this venue her studio for the duration.
