45 years on the road! This year will see North Sea Gas celebrating 45 years on the road! With 23 albums recorded over those years and a travelogue to rival Marco Polo, the band will once more take the stage at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show will consist of songs from their latest album Time & Tide and other songs new and old all delivered to entertain, as many satisfied sell-out audiences can testify. So come along and have a gas.

'Absolutely incredible' (BBC Radio 4, Woman's Hour). Chloe Matharu is an award-winning Scottish/Indian singer, songwriter and harpist from the West Coast of Scotland. Many of her songs draw on her time as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy, inspired by the natural world as experienced at sea. Her music lends a voice to the modern-day seafarer, writing a new chapter in maritime folk music. Chloe has been awarded Celtic Music Radio's Album of the Year and a Danny at Celtic Connections Festival, amongst others and nominated for MG Alba Scots Singer of the Year.

Having been a highly satisfied customer of this venue, John is delighted to have been invited to do a short festival run and take on the folk/roots feel of the programming. The tales are sung, spoken and depicted in bits of cardboard, many of them seen and heard for their first time, here at the UCC. The folk include family members alongside the human suitcase, the dry drystone wall builder, the Hokey Kokey madam and Hercules's grandma. John Hegley Folk Telling

The Scottish/Danish folk duo are back at the AMC for an hour of the best of folksong and fine singing. A concert with The Quiggs reveals folksong in its original form, simple yet highly expressive, beautiful harmonies and songs seeking the audience's participation. A show which has received much praise from both audiences and organisers. 'The indicators of true quality extend to the individual and collective strengths of the Quiggs themselves, for both are fine singers with a nice line in harmony, and both are natural experts in the art of choosing excellent songs' (David Kidman, Living Tradition).

East Lothian folk singer, George Machray writes songs about towns, villages and characters in and around Edinburgh with varying themes from the humorous to the serious. George is a triple winner of both the Edinburgh Folk Club Song Competition (Audience Vote) and the Glenfarg Folk Festival Annual Song Contest. He has opened for Isla St. Clair, Adam McNaughtan and Barluath. George's popular song Swinging In Dunbar can be found on the Edinburgh Folk Club Facebook page where it has notched up over 33K views. His album Singing Off Quay is available on Spotify.

An hour of contemporary Scots folk music from two award-winning songwriters. A father and son duo who combine well-crafted lyrics, good humour, lively mandolin tunes and eye-catching guitar playing. William Hershaw is a playwright, poet and Scots language activist, known for his Fife roots and for winning the prestigious Callum MacDonald Award. His latest album LEID is a game changer for the Scots language and was produced by his son David, a popular singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known for his work with Paper Sparrows and for running the popular Kirkcaldy Acoustic Music Club.

An alternative take on Scotland's national bard, Hamish and Liza present a mix of bittersweet, comedic and satirical songs, from the pen of (and influenced by) Robert Burns, with some spoken word poetry along the way. Performing together over many years, songwriter and Scottish slam poetry champion Hamish was Scots Scriever at the National Library of Scotland and first Robert Burns Writing Fellow. Songwriter/musician Liza is co-creator and performer/producer of 5-star touring show Metagama: An Atlantic Odyssey, is writer/performer on Edge of the World Cabaret and collaborates with many artistes on diverse cross-artform projects.

For those who cherish poetic storytelling coupled with instrumental brilliance and feel the authenticity of great folk music, Skyrie is essential listening. Their latest album, Hunger Road, is a masterpiece to be sung, played, remembered for years to come. Having performed and recorded over many years with artists as diverse as Dougie Maclean, Garbage's Shirley Manson, Big Country and Kathy Mattea, Skyrie have honed their style through hundreds of gigs and sessions. Comprising versatile composers and multi-instrumentalists Lesley Thompson-Smith, Jimmy Anderson and Christopher Smith, Skyrie's music captures hearts and minds from Scotland to the world stage.

Jack Badcock has toured four continents. His debut album Cosmography (2024) received wide critical acclaim confirming him as a first-class songwriter. Nominated in the German Music Critic's Choice Awards, it also earned him a nomination for Composer of the Year in the Scots Trad Music Awards. Jack is a singer whose solo material reveals an astute songcraft, exploring enormously wide-ranging subjects delivered with a musical sensitivity. It is clearly influenced by American folk, funk and soul music, as much as the traditional music of Britain and Ireland and all served with a healthy dose of storytelling and humour.

One of Scotland's foremost folksingers, Iona Fyfe showcases her passion for Scots language through traditional repertoire, translations and self-penned songs. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Iona has toured extensively in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA. A fierce advocate for the official recognition of the Scots Language, Iona led a successful campaign to pressure Spotify into recognising Scots and add it to its list of languages. The current winner of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, Iona presents a solo vocal and piano show.

When Annie lost the love of her life to cancer, she found inspiration, comfort and courage in playing upbeat, funky, yet heartfelt music. So she formed a band, AGL and The Alchemists, and began to write and perform songs about love, life, loss and longing, and to explore through music, her experience of grief, survival and recovery. Audiences have described the band's performances as amazing, joyous and life-enhancing. Prepare to be rocked, rolled, moved and uplifted.
