A Tenant's life is uprooted when a Squatter boldly declares her living space as his own, exploring colonisation, occupation and displacement through a microcosm of Britain. Playwright Kara Hardie explores this allegory through themes of power and resilience against the backdrop of historical and contemporary conflicts. Drawing from her connection to the 1974 invasion of Cyprus, the play engages viewers through dark comedy, audience interaction, physical theatre and shadow work. The Exterminator transforms the stage into a symbolic battlefield for space and power to encourage audiences to reflect on ownership and the cyclical nature of injustice.
