Beijing Quju Opera Troupe (China)
I’m a framer who has been trying to be a good person all my life, but as a result, my wife betrayed me, my son died, and I switched to the police force to survive… In a production that celebrates Bejing's cultural heritage, Lao She's 1950s novella is performed in traditional Bejing musical style by a Chinese troupe famous for interpreting his work. The story takes the perspective of a common man who, despite his personal struggles of loss and pain, continues to find love for the world. English surtitles.
