New Caledonia String Orchestra
The New Caledonia String Orchestra is a mountain dulcimer folk orchestra, plus kindred mandolins, hammered dulcimers, fiddles and flute. This relaxed, festival-style performance will be in St Cuthbert's Parish Church, Monday, August 11th at 1pm with a full orchestra, followed by sets of mixed ensembles with a full orchestra finale. Players come from 18 states in the USA plus England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Orchestra has an Appalachian heritage. This performance honours our forebears, those Scots who earlier brought their musical lineage to the new world and into Appalachia.
