Scots played a major role in the anti-fascist struggle in Spain from 1936-39. Our Fathers Fought Franco, follows four members of the International Brigades, all communists, who risked their lives fighting for democracy far from home. Communism is no longer the force it was when our fathers fought Franco. Anarchism and socialism likewise lack the footing they then had. Now that fascism is on the rise again, what lessons can be learned from the political commitment of those Scots who were in the vanguard of anti-fascism in the 1930s.
