Beyond Words Theatre
In contemporary China, what happens when a woman refuses to be invisible? When a family crisis pushes former housewife Cheng Yuan back into work, she discovers independence, ambition and a life she was never meant to have. But as her husband’s promotion threatens to uproot everything, she must decide whether stability is worth self-erasure. Through live vocals and intimate storytelling, this powerful original musical examines marriage, gender roles and the quiet negotiations women make every day. Performed in Mandarin with English surtitles.
