BASIS International School Shenzhen
Not everyone gets an A. In a traditional Chinese family, the daughter earns a law degree; the son sells noodles from a cart. Stereotype says: she's the golden child, he's the disappointment. But another stereotype says: sons are spoiled, no matter what. In this family, that one wins. The son is coddled. The daughter questioned. Then she brings home a foreign fiancé with a "love" tattoo that actually says cancer. Almost A asks which stereotypes are right, wrong, or almost right – through noodle carts, Princeton degrees, and a family refusing one mold but happily squeezing into another.
