Tom Oakes / Brite Theater
Multi-instrumentalist Tom Oakes returns with Forge, a new work building on the award-nominated The Hearth. Traditional music is set against live composition and improvisation, threaded with archive broadcast and new writing by Kolbrún Björt Sigfúsdóttir. Stories of resistance surface in sound and speech, carried in music that changes from night to night. The Hearth was nominated for Best New Work at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards and premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe before appearing at major festivals including Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
