Quanzhou Normal University (China)
Nanyin, also known as Xian Guan, is one of China’s oldest surviving musical traditions. Recognised by UNESCO in 2009, it combines vocal artistry with instrumental music. This concert seamlessly integrates the traditional performance style of Nanyin with contemporary artistic expression in four heritage-inspired pieces. Using dance as a language to unravel deep emotional struggles, through mesmerising choreography and a non-linear narrative, the complex world of anxious and avoidant attachment styles is viscerally explored. The audience is invited to reflect on their own relationships question the very nature of human connection.
