Chris Brookmyre is an internationally celebrated crime writer, debuting with Quite Ugly One Morning in 1996 and going on to publish over thirty novels, winning major prizes including the McIlvanney Prize and Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year. His work spans television, theatre, radio and videogames. Dr Marisa Haetzman, a consultant anaesthetist for two decades, later specialised in medical history, researching James Young Simpson and the discovery of chloroform. Together, as Ambrose Parry, they write bestselling historical crime novels such as The Way of All Flesh and latest The Death of Shame.
