Matt Holborn, Fraser Urquhart and Ed Kelly
Matt Holborn (violin), Fraser Urquhart (piano) and Edinburgh-based bassist Ed Kelly present a trio set drawn from the roots of American song and the early language of jazz. From traditional melodies and spirituals to favourites from the Great American Songbook, the programme centres on melody, storytelling and swing. Jazzwise praised Urquhart for '...melding the twin worlds of jazz modernism and American songbook exploration'. The performance also features music from Holborn’s album For Stuff, described by Jazzwise as 'a delightful album shedding sunlight on a rather neglected patch of jazz'.
