Kabuki Opera Executive Committee
Kabuki Opera – Asakura Carmen is an original visually striking stage work that fuses the traditional Japanese art of Kabuki with the dramatic music and narrative of the Western opera Carmen. This fusion creates an entirely new performance genre – rich in emotion, movement and cultural crossover. Designed specifically to engage global audiences unfamiliar with Kabuki, it's non-verbal and supported by projected English subtitles and universal visual storytelling. It invites audiences to experience the elegance, drama and humour of Kabuki in a way that feels fresh, immersive and emotionally immediate.
