Moonlight
Beethoven's iconic and haunting masterpieces performed by award-winning pianist Matthew Shiel in our atmospheric candlelit chapel. Usher Hall emerging artist and acclaimed pianist Matthew Shiel performs Beethoven's most popular, passionate, emotionally raw and technically demanding piano sonatas: Waldstein and Moonlight sonatas alongside Liszt’s virtuosic piano transcription of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. Our programme is rounded off with Beethoven's nod to Scotland – it might surprise you Beethoven enjoyed composing Highland dances! 'Matthew Shiel has "composed" a most enchanting concert, relating amusing, enlightening stories to introduce each piece' ***** (EdinburghGuide.com).
