MacPhail Ceilidh Band, Brazilian Piper and Edmonton RCMP pipe band
The Brazilian Piper Pipe band was founded in 1999 by Pipe Major Jose Paulo Pereira as a social project using the discipline of a pipe band to train underprivileged teenage boys to become responsible citizens. They have performed their music including Brazilian samba tunes all over South America – always guaranteeing a standing ovation. Over 30 years, Iain MacPhail provided the music for Caledonian Balls all over South America and the Ghillies' Ball for the Royal Family at Balmoral Castle. We met the Edmonton RCMP Pipe Band at Montevideo – who have adopted the boys.
