College of Chinese Opera, Shanghai Theatre Academy
This intimate solo, Peking Opera Zheng He, revolves around a brutal attack on his crew, exploring his inner struggles and embodying the benevolent spirit of ancient China with meaningful modern resonance. It inherits Chinese opera’s strength in emotional expression and innovates with digital visuals to enrich storytelling. Adhering to traditional aesthetic principles, the production uses projections and symbolic stage designs to create immersive scenes. Skillfully balancing narration and lyricism, it carries forward classic art while embracing modern creativity, presenting a unique and compelling contemporary Chinese opera work.
