Dance Base Yokohama/Conan Amok
A contemporary butoh work, R/evolution(s) reimagines butoh for today while carrying its inheritance forward. It brings together Conan Amok – heir to the lineage of Dairakudakan, one of Japan's leading butoh companies – and contemporary dancers renewing the form from within. Grounded in Amok's 'multi layered body' method, developed through a fusion of butoh and sculptural practice, the work explores revolution as both orbit and radical transformation. Deep bass and wadaiko drums create a club-like ritual atmosphere, inviting audiences to encounter butoh anew. This work is part of Wings: International Dance Project by Dance Base Yokohama for Emerging Creators.
