Four-Sided Sky Theatre (UK/China)
Two women, two cages. In 1898, a young woman in late Qing China is bound by lotus shoes and arranged marriage. In Victorian England, another is trapped by hysteria and a husband’s law. Separated by geography but mirrored on stage across a transparent divide, their lives unfold side by side from girlhood, through marriage, mirroring each other in a fierce exploration of forbidden love, forced obedience and the dangerous hope of escape. This dark, poetic, cross-cultural drama is for audiences who love intimate new writing, feminist history and stories that refuse to stay silent.
