Young Fringe Performers

18 February 2025 Community
Encouraging and enabling young people from local community groups to perform on a stage during the festival.

Each year we work with a different Edinburgh-based community group, providing the opportunity to work with a local Fringe artist to develop a performance that will ultimately be staged on our Community Stage as part of the world-famous Fringe Street Events. The group works with the artist weekly for eight weeks leading up to their performance.

Core to the project is the fact the piece is co-created with, and stems from the ideas of, the young people. The community group is supported in choosing the artist they would like to work with, exploring the artistic discipline they are most interested in – in the past, this has included spoken word, puppetry, cabaret and drag.

The project aims to develop creativity in young people, encouraging the Fringe artists of the future.
