We are pleased to announce that TikTok will return as the Official Virtual Stage of the Fringe for 2024. Building on previous partnerships in 2022 and 2023, TikTok will be supporting artists in the build-up to this year’s Fringe, through a series of workshops and masterclasses highlighting how using the social media platform can raise awareness of their work and drive audience engagement.

TikTok will help connect Fringe artists to an engaged digital audience, where every day creators are kickstarting trends, shaping culture and finding a new audience that's helping to drive their success both on the platform and on stages in the real world. TikTok has supported stars from the music, comedy and performing arts scenes get started, going on to create sell-out shows and find real-world success.

TikTok and the Fringe Society will work together to support emerging talent across the performing arts scene throughout the summer. TikTok will also be hosting bespoke workshops and masterclasses to support any Fringe performer to use the opportunities on the platform to reach new audiences, test new material and publicise their shows.

Audiences are being encouraged to follow the official account, and the TikTok accounts of Fringe venues and artists, to be the first to hear news and behind-the-scenes content in the run up to this year’s festival. During the Fringe, audiences will be able to explore #edfringe content within the app, as well as upload their own clips to document their experience at the festival.

This August, you can join the Fringe excitement from the comfort of your own home. Simply search #EdFringe for content highlights from venues, performances and show recommendations, follow @EdFringe and the Fringe venues' accounts to follow the action from the ground, share your reviews and join the conversation using the hashtag #EdFringe, and, of course, support your favourite TikTok stars as they bring performances to the Fringe.

Shona McCarthy, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, said: “We're delighted to welcome the return of TikTok to the Fringe this August as the virtual stage of the festival. With TikTok on board, artists will have the opportunity to promote their work and be discovered by new audiences who can engage with them virtually and then experience the live show here in Edinburgh. It’s been a pleasure to work with the TikTok team over the last three years and we look forward to welcoming them to Edinburgh this August.”

Melissa McFarlane, Head of Operations TikTok, UK, IE & Nordics said: "We are delighted to partner with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society for a third year running. As the Official Virtual Stage, we aim to connect global audiences with the next generation of Fringe creative talent.

"This year, as well as working with many TikTok favourites who will be performing at the festival, we are thrilled to support venues and to host the London programme launch event, as we continue to celebrate the whole Fringe community, both on TikTok and beyond."
