Description

One woman's odyssey to escape Syria's brutal war with her son, who should be having his first birthday party. Hagar's a dreamer, but she never dreamt she'd be a refugee. Now she's negotiating with smugglers and betrayed by friends, but the warmongers won't stop this mother. A passionate story of fighting for a better future, whatever the cost. Written by Aksam Alyousef. Performed by Amena Shehab, a Palestinian-Syrian-Canadian, a refugee twice over. Nominated for Outstanding Fringe Performance, Drama, in Theatre Alberta's Sterling Awards 2020. Produced by Joanna Blundell. 'A heartbreaking story, beautifully told' ****½ (Edmonton Journal).
