We’re incredibly pleased to announce that the Fringe has been named Best Festival in the regional Scottish Thistle Awards 2019 / 2020, presented by VisitScotland.

The award – Best Cultural Event or Festival for Lothian and Borders, to give it it’s full title – celebrates recurring events that ‘include, inspire and involve all participants, whether local or visiting and provide a platform for Scotland to show off its greatest features’.

Brigid Kennedy, the Fringe Society’s Marketing Manager, said: ‘This award is a welcome recognition of all the hard work of thousands of talented people that goes into putting this brilliant festival together.’

Our fellow shortlistees were Burns&Beyond, Lammermuir Festival and the Edinburgh International Festival Opening Event: Five Telegrams.

Having won the regional award, the Fringe is now in the running for the national category, to be announced in March 2020.
