Scotland’s first ever Year of Young People is happening in 2018, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society are getting ready to be part of it.

The Society is looking for four to six young people, aged 16 – 26 and based in Scotland to join a panel of young consultants to advise on the Young Voices: Fresh Perspectives strand of events in the 2018 Fringe Central programme.

Fringe Central is a space dedicated to supporting participants during the Fringe and facilitating career development through workshops, seminars, activities and networking opportunities. In 2017, we offered over 100 professional development events; four of these were part of the Young Voices: Fresh Perspectives strand.

We want to expand this strand, and we want young people to work with us to do this.

What’s involved?

The young people will meet once a month from December 2017  - April 2018 in Edinburgh. They will work with Fringe Society staff to develop the content of the Young Voices: Fresh Perspectives programme, and the logistics of delivering it, including timings and marketing. They will also help with the delivery of events, so should be available to come to the Fringe in August 2018.

Sounds great, but who is this for?

We are looking for between four and six young people aged 16 – 26 and based in Scotland.
You should have a proven interest in the performing arts - from acting, directing, journalism to production, technical management and design. Or you might be a keen audience member. We want a variety of people to be involved.

What will you get?

This is an unpaid opportunity, but you will gain:

  • Valuable experience in event programming, marketing, and delivery.
  • A unique insight into the world’s largest arts festival.
  • Mentoring from Fringe Society staff.
  • Experience for your CV.
  • Biscuits! Cake! Refreshments!

Don’t live in Edinburgh? Studying or working? Have access requirements? Not a problem!

We want to ensure that this group of young people is representative of Scotland, and will pay for transport to Edinburgh, and overnight accommodation if necessary. We will also arrange for BSL interpretation if you need it, and all meetings will be held in a step free venue, at weekends.

Yes! Sign me up!

Brilliant! Drop us a line to [email protected] with more information about yourself and why you want to be involved. Please get in touch with us by the 01 December 2017.

Not for me, but I like where you’re going…
